چکیده

The essential nature of n 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in neurological development Neural membrane aminophospholipids are characterized by high concentrations of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), particularly docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6n-3). For example, adult human cerebral cortex phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) contains 30.5% C22:6n-3 while C22:6n-3 in the retina accounts for 22.2% of PE fatty acids (reviewed in [1,2]). T h e presence of high concentrations of C22:6n-3 in neural membranes suggests an important role in the function of the central nervous system (CNS). Present understanding of the significance of n-3 PUFA in neurological development and

P 95: Result of Alcohol Excessive Drinking in the Brain and Varying Mental Health Side Effects

Alcohol directly affects astroglial cell function, including inflammation-related activity.  And it also affects microglial cell development and function in specific ways that interfere with microglial interactions with the immune system and with neurons. Neuroinflammatory processes might be involved in alcohol-induced brain damage. Alcohol use, misuse and getting used to it causes differe...

Nutrition implications for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

Prenatal alcohol exposure produces a multitude of detrimental alcohol-induced defects in children collectively known as fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). Children with FASD often exhibit delayed or abnormal mental, neural, and physical growth. Socioeconomic status, race, genetics, parity, gravidity, age, smoking, and alcohol consumption patterns are all factors that may influence FASD. Op...

Inhibitory and Dose-dependent effect of intracerebroventricular docosahexaenoic acid on clonic seizures induced by pentylenetetrazole in mice

Introduction: Epilepsy is one of the most common neurologic disorders. Pharmacoresistance and adverse effects of current antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) necessitate development of new drugs and strategies for treatment of epilepsy. Omega 3-Polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω3-PUFAs) are safe nutritional supplements that recently considered for treatment of epilepsy. Anticonvulsant effect of docosahexa...

The impact of COVID-19 during pregnancy on fetal brain development

The development of the brain as the most complex structure of the human body is a long process that begins in the third week of pregnancy and continues until adulthood and even until the end of life (1). Human brain myelination begins one to two months before birth in the visual system and eventually lasts until the age of two in other sensory systems and then the motor systems (4). Processes a...
